Camp participants,
Some tips to better prepare you all before camp :
1. Exercise for 30 minutes - 1 hour each day. Go for jogs (3-5 km) around your housing area or nice parks or do push-ups (20-30 X) at home. This will help build stamina and prevent from falling sick.
2. Start listing out the list of equipment that you are bringing for yourself. Then, label all your personal belongings either with marker pen or paper with cellophane tape. For patrol equipment, please refer to respective patrol leaders, you might want to choose a uniform colour code e.g. Patrol XYZ - BLACK, Patrol ABC - GREEN, etc. for easier identification
3. Practice lighting a fire, but ask your parents permission. If got older siblings, ask them to supervise you. Make sure don't burn down your whole house ! Very important in camp. Can pass test too if not yet.
4. EACH PERSON, Ask your mum/dad/ or maid to teach you how to cook. Simple dishes like fried chicken, fried rice, fried meehoon. Learn how to boil rice. Ask them about measurement for boiling rice. Don't last minute, the night before camp learn how to cook 10 course dinner.
Learn how to make a unique dish e.g. ABC soup, kangkung belacan etc. Will be tested.
5. Whatever equipment/uniform/item you think you lack, write it down. Then, plan with your parents, buy all ONE shot, instead of making many trips. Many of parents always complain their son/daughter never plan. Penknife is quite vital (get a cheap one). So is raincoat (don't get 1 time disposable one..rain may happen more than one time at camp). Tip : refer to TESCO, Carrefour or GIANT brochures for cheap items e.g. food or equipment like bags etc.
