LATEST LATEST LATEST (no more changes list)

LAST MINUTE REMINDERS :
Monsoon season is on...which means loads of water everywhere...gonna have mud (good for ur skin) gonna have wet clothes, its gonna be cold....use your common sense...pack logically..

Some essentials :

1. RAINCOAT 2.JACKET (to keep warm) 3.LOADS OF PLASTIC BAGS

4. Be prepared to light loads of fire (firewood-dry)(should already have this)

5. Penknife 6.All form2s should have a parang 7.tools for trench digging

Tips : To avoid soaked clothes....think....when packing ur bag...wrap your clothes in plastic bags...so even if ur bags get soaked....u still have dry clothes...everytime u bath/change rewrap ur dry/clean clothes....do it the smart way..PLs teach ur PBs (last minute preparations).

NOTE : Besides what the den promised to provide, it'll also supply u with sulphur...so dun worry about that....

LASTLY, most important thing.....ABOUT THURSDAY morning....

Please come to school and get organised in an orderly fashion...come and line up in your patrols....come earlier (suggestion:6am), PLs and APLs should be the earliest....The Bus will LEAVE at 8am......Your teachers will be there waiting for you to be ready....there'll be a briefing by the school at 7.30am.....so BY HOOK OR CROOK...make sure ure ready in your patrol lines by then....

When u come in the morning, send QMs to the den to collect your patrol equipment (by now it should already be labelled). Then get in line in the tapak perhimpunan. Parents will be standing around too...do it like a scout...

*any last minute questions...do ask...

Tips for Camp Part 2

1. Plan your gadgets and campsite layout on paper e.g. how many gadgets, how they should look like, and where should each gadget be positioned. Example, noticeboard should be situated near gateway (pintu gerbang). Space should be allocated for falling-in and morning inspection.

2. If you're not used to hard labour with hands, best bring gloves (cotton) to camp. Bring a few pairs. Use it especially when digging trench etc. Never wear gloves when using parang.

3. If you've got a penknife with you, label it clearly with your name and hang around neck using a lanyard. That way, if anyone wants to borrow (within your patrol, let's say) pass it to him/her and he/her can wear around neck and use it. This decreases your penknife from getting lost.

4. Make sure each person brings either sleeping bag, sleeping mat (the blue foam one also can), or sleeping mat (the ones you use in picnic). Keep these dry all the time. When sleeping at night, make sure sleep ON or IN sleeping bag/mat/sleeping rug. Wear a windbreaker. Do not sleep directly on groundsheet. When you wake up, it will be freezing cold. The cold will deplete you of energy and make you numb. Remove shoes and keep socks on while sleeping to ensure good circulation while keeping feet warm. Worse comes to worse if you got nothing, sleep on newspapers and use some as blanket (but you will look like dead body or beggar).

5. Light a fire each night near your backdoor or in the middle of camp ground to illuminate campsite and also to provide warmth. This fire can be used to dry stuff e.g. wet shoes, clothes. You can cook simple supper snacks e.g. potatoes, roast garlic etc while doing your work in campsite.

6. When you pack, remember the principle, FIRST IN - LAST OUT. The stuff that you first pack in your bag/harversack will be the last to come out. Make sure all your essential items are reachable e.g. toiletries, raincoat, torchlight, etc. and packed in compartments reached easily (like side compartment).

LATEST PATROL LISTING...

This is the latest patrol arrangements...actually no changes...only some ppl not going and some additional ppl.
**Aiklynn's patrol will accommodate Tan Cheng Wen..
***Please inform me ASAP if you have some other PB somewhere not on the list...(this is all the forms i got from you)

Semi Seniors

i have no idea where everyone is on their badgework, its quite hard to track. We'll heres something everyone can do, now i have a feeling everyones kinda idle-ing so here what i propose. it doesnt matter where u are in ur tests, whether u havent even done 1 usaha test oso it doesnt matter. all i request is that everyone, to their very best effort (to each person this may differ but i hope u try ur very best) to finish both ur usaha and maju logbooks before camp. if you complete ur logbook during camp, i can almost assure u teh badge after camp. it might be tough but not impassable. if u dun do ur logbook, i cant help u there. so do try =) i would say its well worth it, 4D 3N camp = 2 badges. for those who are nearly donewith usaha or maju, go on to jaya. ud be suprised at how many tests u can pass in one camp. Getting the badge will really give you something to be proud of after all tehse years in scouting =)

SCOUTING IS FUN ^_^

Hows everyone doing?? preparing well for camp? i sure hope so. im here to post a blogpost that is not so mch about instructions but more about motivation. everyone has heard all the stuff about prepare for camp, make sure u do this, do taht before camp etc. BUT... BUT .. the most important thing, Are you mentally set on having a once in a life time experience in camp? I'll tell you a tip to surviving a camp successfully, or many other things for that matter. if u want to succeed in rare events that come by, like Usaha camp or an event ur planning liek a party or a highschool prom, you should........... THINK about it all day and all night, let it be in ur dreams, at ur dinner table, when ur just walking about or playing sports. This of course doesnt make u a freak, merely makes u interested in making this event succeed. Are you interested in succeeding in camp? ask yourself this. If the answer is NO, then the following question would be why? Why put so much effort into scouting? isn't it just another uniform body? The more effort u put into something, the greater the sense of accomplishment when its done. Putting in the effort will improve yourself in many ways some of you may not be even aware of like physical toughness, Stress coping, Self esteem and so forth.

For all those who are putting in the effort, i say keep it up, its gonna be a great camp! for those who arent, Its never too late to be the best you can be. =)
